Overview of The University of Tennessee, Knoxville on iTunes U

When you launch the public site, your iTunes application will open and launch UTK on iTunes U. When you click the "My UTK on iTunes U" link, you will be required to log in using the login form. After you click the "login" button, the iTunes application will open and launch UTK on iTunes U.

All iTunes U course areas will contain 6 default "tabs" for organizing and accessing podcasts. The "Public" tab is just that, public. Anyone with an Internet connection and iTunes installed on their machine can listen and/or download podcasts stored here. This is the ONLY tab that will be visible for the general public. The remaining 5 "tabs" require logging in with your UT netid and password. You must log in to upload and manage files.

3 Steps to Podcasting using UTK on iTunes U


Step 1

(Instructors only)
If you will be linking your materials through Online@UT (Blackboard) it is recommended that you request an iTunes course from within your Blackboard course using the iTunes U Link building block. More information can be found in the ITC self-paced tutorial titled Introduction to UTK on iTunes U. If you plan to combine courses, combine them 1st, then request the iTunes U course.

Alternatively, request your UTK on iTunes U Course using the online form on this Web site. You will be required to log in with your UT netid and password.

Based on information provided in this request, your UTK on iTunes U Course will be created within two (2) working days. You will receive an email confirmation when this has been completed.


Step 2

Record your podcast using any number of methods (audio or video) based on your preference and subject matter requirements with suitable equipment that meets your needs. You can find more information on how to create a podcast in the ITC self-paced tutorial titled Instructional Podcasting. If you require assistance with creating an instructional podcast, request our assistance.

Step 3

Manage FilesUpload your podcasts to UTK on iTunes U. Launch My UTK on iTunes U, navigate to your course area, and click on "Upload and Manage Files". More information can be found in the ITC self-paced tutorial titled Introduction to UTK on iTunes U.
