Using the iPod Touch to Access iTunes U
- Connect to UT's wireless network
If not already connected to UT’s wireless network, open Safari on your iPod Touch. When prompted, select the wireless network “ut-open”. You will be redirected to UT’s device registration page. Enter your net ID and password. After registration, you will have access to the internet. Call 865-974-9900 or visit the Walk-in Helpdesk in the Hodges Library Commons if you have any questions.
- Download and Install OS 3 for the iPod Touch
You will need OS 3 or higher to access iTunes U via the iPod Touch. For the Touch, the upgrade to OS 3 is $10 (iPhone upgrades are free due to the ongoing service contract).
To install the upgrade, make sure you are using the latest version of iTunes, then connect the Touch to your computer. Select your iPod Touch in the Devices list and click "Check for Update" in the main panel. Find out more at http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/.
- Go to UTK on iTunes U
Open Safari. Go to http://itunesu.utk.edu. Click “Public UTK on iTunes U” to see publically available courses, or click “My UTK on iTunes U” to access courses with login protection. Browse by scrolling. Click to select.
Note: You can click to download one podcast at a time, but subscribing to a course or updating your subscriptions is not yet possible on the iPod Touch – this must still be done through the desktop.
